Please complete the form and any relevant information for us.  Once we receive your information we will review your application and once approved you will be sent a notification to select the shifts that you are available for.  You will be able to amend and add to these shifts throughout the event, so if you availability changes please let us know as soon as possible.

Each volunteer needs to sign up for a minimum of 4 shifts.  There are 2 shifts per day, one from 11:00am - 4:30pm and the second from 4:00pm - 10:00pm (or when the last game finishes).  You can do double shifts or single shifts, but must select at least 4.

You will receive a volunteer uniform as part of your kit, which will be available prior to your first shift.  We will also provide lunch and dinner on your shift.

A summary of our roles are:

  • Spectator Services, ranging from ticketing to accreditation control, fan zone to general spectator help.  
  • Driver - we need drivers for our officials and teams, you will need a current full drivers licence and relevant driving experience for this role
  • Team Liaisons - each international team will require a team liaison to assist them during their stay.  Someone who can ensure that the team makes important meetings and also helps them if they need to know local knowledge, such as tourist information, where to find a supermarket etc.   It is helpful if you speak a second language for this role and you will be required to be available for the full duration of the tournament.  Knowledge of Auckland and the game of Softball is benefical for this role.
  • Umpire Assistants - these roles will include assisting the WBSC Officials will umpire related tasks, such as clock operation and scoreboard operation.  You will need relevant umpire/softball experience for these roles.
  • WBSC Assistant - assisting the International Federation with general administration tasks.

Terms & Conditions

I have read the Job Description/s and I am aware of the time commitment required. I will keep my availability up to date online when I have changes.
I understand that I will be supplied a Volunteer uniform. I will wear this at all times when I am on duty as a softball volunteer and the uniform will be kept clean and tidy. I will
not wear the uniform in a social setting outside of the tournament prior to, or during the event.
I may not smoke in public while in uniform. There will be a designated smoking area.
I will adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines
I may not turn up for my rostered duty under the influence of alcohol or any other substance.
I should refer any questions from the media to the Volunteer Manager or the Media Manager.
Cameras (cell phone or otherwise) are not to be used while on duty and/or in uniform.
There will be no autograph hunting while on duty and/or in uniform.
Private use of cell phones while on duty should be minimised in order to attend to your duties.
I understand that attendance is important and every volunteer is a vital part of the time. If I am going to be late for a shift, or unable to attend I will notify the Volunteer Manager as soon as possible
I understand this is a voluntary, unpaid position with no reimbursement of expenses (for example accommodation and transport) and no guarantee of viewing games.
I will ensure I have thoroughly read the Volunteer Manual when it is supplied to me (November).
I understand my responsibilities and I am aware my contract may be ceased, or I may be moved to another department if I do not fulfill my obligations.
If I am under the age of 18 I confirm that I have the approval of my parent/guardian to volunteer for this event

Responsibility of Softball 2021 Limited
• Will supply meals, snacks and tea/coffee appropriate to the shift timings.
• Will provide a Volunteer Centre for meal and rest breaks
• Will provide a secure gear storage facility
• Will provide a uniform consisting of 2 x shirts, 1 cap, 1 hoodie, 1 drink bottle and 1 bag.
• Will provide free parking while volunteers are on duty
• Will run a training/briefing session prior to event
